Learn about our company and meet our team...

BaseKit was born when two brothers and a friend, working together in a web design agency, thought, “hold on, there has to be a better way to make websites than this!”

 

Frustrated with the fragmented, laborious process of designing a website in Photoshop, converting it into

HTML and then spending countless days fiddling

with code to make it work, they decided to change things.

It all started with them brainstorming their ideal website builder. They believed that a website builder should make HTML sites and be free of clunky flash. It should be extremely easy to use, require no technical skills and be affordable.

 

The partners took this idea to Seedcamp (UK readers: a concept similar to Dragons’ Den, US readers: the European equivalent to Y Combinator) and they won!

As well as the prize money, they also won the honour

of Juan Lobato joining the team as CEO.

 

Juan is something of a startup whiz-kid and knew

he was joining something pretty special.

 

As the team continued to grow and BaseKit’s product

got better by the day, it was time to get more funding. 

 

$10m and several outgrown offices later, we’re proud

to be providers of the world’s best website builder.
