If done correctly, advertising for your small business can be seen as a fast track way to let people know about your products and services.
A good advertisement will effectively target the right customers and market what your business has to offer in the best possible way. It will make people want to act upon seeing it.
We see hundreds of adverts each day and there are only a certain few that stand out to us and that we remember. You want your company to be among these.
Here are the best methods to advertise offline.
What is it exactly that you’re advertising? Is it a product or service? Or maybe it’s just your company in general? You’ll need to determine what you’re going to advertise and have specific ideas about how you want to advertise it. It is absolutely essential that you come up with a plan.
A well-constructed plan will keep you on track and prevent any problems down the line. It will also speed up the whole process of making the advertisement saving you time and money. Remember, you can always make changes to your plan along the way.
You’ll need to decide a budget for your advertising campaign. Make a list and allow for every additional cost possible. This means you will not run out of money during the process of your advertisement which could result in it being incomplete. Your budget will depend on whether you’re making it yourself and how embellished you would like it to be.
The main function of a banner ad should be to attract attention to the visual aspect of it straight away. You then want to prompt the viewer to click on it and through to the next page. Your banner ad should still represent your company as a brand by including your company logo and using a similar colour scheme to that on your website.
There should be a call to action on your banner prompting the user to click through. This means you’ll need to make your banner creative and inviting. How clear is your message? A confusing banner will mean that users will not want to click on it as they will be hesitant to leave the current page that they’re on. You’ll need to make them feel like your advertisement is worth clicking.
As radio advertisements are audio based only, you’ll need to ensure that the content is up to scratch. Prepare a well-written script and remember to include everything you need. Use chatty, conversational language so that the listener can relate. You won’t have a lot of time so you’ll need to plan around a timeframe very carefully. This is where every second counts. Record your advertisement on high quality equipment. You don’t want it to be distorted and of a poor quality. This will only make you look unprofessional and amateur. As well as this, you’ll want to get a professional voiceover artist who is able to pronounce the words correctly and speak clearly while keeping a consistent flow.
Print advertising combines copy and visuals to persuade the reader. You’ll need to have a strong, attention grabbing headline. Make it appealing and then follow through with the copy. It needs to be clear, engaging and persuasive. The information should be delivered to the reader quickly and with the intention to have an impact. There could be rhetorical questions included to make the reader think and relate more to the advertisement.
Having a campaign or theme for the advert is a good idea. Look at some other commercials on TV. How would yours fit in with the others? This will give you a chance to be creative while original and unique. Think about your company and how you can keep the advertisement related in order to build a brand. Because you’ll be on a time limit, you’ll want to focus in on your product right from the start. This will also show the viewer what exactly is being advertised right from the start.
You may want to have a voiceover depending on whether you choose to include actors in your commercial. Think about using music and sound effects to tie in with your visuals.
