How to revamp your Facebook company page

By Alex Woods on February 03, 2012

The ever-changing nature of social media means that it’s easy to get left behind. So, if you’re sat there thinking your Facebook company page is looking a little old and tired then maybe it’s time to give it a revamp.

A few small changes can instantly bring your Facebook company page up-to-date and have it looking brand new.

It’s important to keep your page engaging and appealing so that you can continue to market your business effectively through the site.

Profile picture

If you have your company logo as your profile picture then make sure you update it every now and again. It could be something simple like your new logo design or it could it be a flyer for an upcoming event. Another option is a seasonal profile picture. This will show that you are constantly thinking ahead.

Your picture should be a decent size and clearly recognisable as a thumbnail image.

Content

Your ‘Like’ button will be a useful indicator of what is doing well on your site. Take note of what seems to be popular and upload similar content. If something is working for you then it’ll be in your interest to produce more of it. As well as this, you can also look at your analytics to see how many views each piece of content is receiving. This will highlight the sort of content your Facebook company page should be concentrating on. You can then focus all your energies on a more specific target audience while developing your brand.

Info

Your ‘Info’ page will be the page that non-friends are going to land on. This page is therefore one of the most important.  Your information needs to be updated and current. If you have an Awards section then make sure it boasts all your latest achievements.  Any new developments should be added to your ‘About’ and ‘Description’ sections.

You could also include a call-to-action on this page which will encourage people to ‘Like’ your page or visit a certain tab.

Photos

Adding new photos is a great way to keep your Facebook page fresh and updated. You could post photos of a recent event or anything that is related to your business. This will come up on your friend’s feeds and encourage them to visit your page. Make sure all your photos provide descriptions and links back to your website and blog.

The first 5 images on your page are the most important as these will be visible above your wall. Un-tag any pictures that are irrelevant or uninteresting. Ensure that they are appealing and engaging to draw your visitor in.

Tag

The tagging feature on Facebook is great to generate awareness for something you want to share. You can tag with photos and status updates. Tag people that you think would be genuinely interested in your content and likely to share it.

Sort through your friends list

This is a good time to sort through your friends list. Delete friends that cause trouble on your page. This could be people that purposefully start arguments and post abuse.

Add valuable contacts to your friends list building on your professional relationships. It’s beneficial for your business to be constantly expanding and reaching out to as many people as possible.

Tabs

This is an opportune time to take some new approaches to the way in which you interact on Facebook.  You could set up new tabs for various purposes. One way is by hosting a competition or giveaway. A unique tab can be created for this and will bring fresh content to your page while giving it a boost.

Update, update, update

Finally, update your Facebook profile regularly to keep it looking fresh. The worst thing is having a dated looking page with no new activity. Continue to interact with your friends and adding fresh content as often as you can.
