Product updates: H1 2019

Here at BaseKit we’re always working to improve our product, so you can be sure you’re offering the best possible solution to your customers.  Here are just a few of the things we’ve been working on so far this year.

Latest developments

Onboarding flow

Available for new Go (BK10) customers on any package.

We’ve revamped our onboarding flow for Go Sitebuilder, which now includes options for templates, style and website type – and can be previewed in mobile or desktop format.

Template picker

Available for new Go (BK10) customers on any package.

After trialling an iteration of the product which wasn’t based on templates, we’ve listened to our partners’ and customers’ feedback and started to reintroduce them. We’ve been working on a live preview-based template picker, which allows customers to see how their website will look with any given template. We want users to experience the first few minutes of their journey as inspiring and encouraging, and we hope this will produce this result.

We know that when users are faced with too many templates, the excess of choice can lead to them choosing from the first or last few in a list, and ignoring the middle options. With our new combination of hand-picked tailored designs, colour customisation and font customisation, users can enjoy the ability to create thousands of designs without being overwhelmed by choice.

Increased customisation options for sections

Available for all Go (BK10) customers on any package.

Sections allow customers to create great looking websites, quickly. They don’t, however, allow users to add or arrange single pieces of content (widgets) to create unique layouts.

To resolve this issue, we’ve extended the *add content* functionality to allow for adding single widgets to a page. To add a widget, users can just select ‘add content’, choose a widget, and then drag it onto the page.

Analytics

Available for all BK8 and Go (BK10) customers on any package.

A customer has built a website they’re proud of – but how do they know if anyone is visiting their website? We’ve created a simple dashboard that allows customers to view visitor data at a glance.

View weekly, monthly and yearly data for page views, visitors and visits.
This feature will be communicated to users via an in-app message (if enabled). This message will be configured to display on next user login, at least 7 days after any previous announcements.

Custom colours and fonts

Available for all Go (BK10) customers on any package.

We’ve added a new tab for fonts and colours to allow users to easily customise the design of their website.

Although users are able to change font pairings inside a design, they are not able to customise single fonts within a font pairing. This it to ensure continuity of design throughout the website.

This feature will be communicated to users via an in-app message (if enabled). This message will be configured to display on next user login at least 7 days after any previous feature announcements.

Gallery layouts

Available for all Go (BK10) customers on any package.

We’ve developed new ways for customers to showcase their images with our latest gallery designs, including new gallery sections and layouts.

Improvements

Logo re-sizer

Available for all Go (BK10) customers on any brand or package.
One of the first tasks a new user carries out is to add a logo. If someone owns a logo it’s rare that it will be the correct dimensions for web – we therefore need a way for users to control the size of the logo, without using an external design tool.
When the logo option is selected via the branding widget, we’ve added a simple slider to control the size of the logo image.
