BaseKit partners with Etisalat to empower small businesses to go digital

September, 2020
BaseKit has partnered with UAE telecoms giant Etisalat, to bring small businesses across the UAE a free do-it-yourself e-store builder. The move makes it easier for small business owners to trade online during the pandemic.
Partnering with Bristol-based company BaseKit sees Etisalat extend its services in the digital arena. BaseKit Co-founder and CEO, Simon Best, said,
“We’re delighted to partner with Etisalat. We’re all about helping small businesses to launch and thrive online. Etisalat has a huge number of business customers, so giving them access to an online store builder will make a significant difference to many people.”
The e-store builder is available to Etisalat’s existing business customers for free. Many small business owners face challenges and BaseKit is proud to help with the expansion of Etisalat’s digital offering. Access to a comprehensive communications bundle from one provider means entrepreneurs can stick to what they do best.
During the pandemic, Etisalat has conducted a number of initiatives to support small businesses and this partnership is another major step in this direction, Esam Mahmoud, Senior Vice President, SMB, Etisalat adds,
“We are looking forward to begin our partnership with BaseKit giving businesses a unique opportunity to explore new markets and make their products available to a wider audience. At Etisalat our service mantra ‘Your Business Grows with Us’ has driven us to bring innovative services and solutions to uplift the business environment especially for small enterprises during this challenging time. The new e-store builder will support our customers during this period in achieving their digital goals and ambitions.”
The importance of ecommerce, evident to both businesses, has not been lost on consumers either. COVID-19 has accelerated a shift towards online retail. Globally, ecommerce transactions were up 19% in July 2020, compared to July 2019, according to ACI Worldwide.
Plans to expand digital services in future could see Etisalat offer even more assistance, something Simon Best is proud of:
“With the Coronavirus continuing to affect lives and businesses globally, ecommerce looks set to grow. Being able to support our partners and to help the businesses they serve is why we exist.”
Governments around the world are balancing public health needs against economic stimulation. Ecommerce offers a ray of hope. Not only does it help keep the economy moving, but it’s also a lifeline to small business owners during the pandemic. It’s given entrepreneurs the opportunity to keep trading – without risking their health or that of their families.
