15k trees planted with Ecologi

In February of this year we set out on our journey with Ecologi to help fight climate change. We pledged to plant 10k trees by the end of 2022. We’re incredibly excited to announce that as of this month (December 2022), we’ve smashed our target and planted over 15k trees in the BaseKit forest.

Founded in Bristol, Ecologi was created to help businesses and individuals make a meaningful contribution to climate projects around the world. Impactful climate solutions include carbon avoidance and reforestation. Ecologi’s success is measured by its impact on the planet, with 85% of money raised on the platform going directly to support planet saving projects.

Force for good

At BaseKit we care deeply about the environment and do all we can to reduce our carbon footprint. Our commitment to planting 10,000 trees with Ecologi this year is part of our wider force for good agenda. As part of this focus on people, planet and profit we’re also working towards our B Corp certification and making diversity and inclusion a top priority for our team.

Wendy Weston, BaseKit HR Director, said:

“Working with Ecologi and committing to planting a specific number of trees has given our environmental initiative a real focus.

“The platform is simple to use and provides our team, partners and wider community with visibility on the specific climate projects we’re supporting as an organisation.

“We’re delighted to have reached and surpassed our target number of trees for this year and are already making plans for how we can do more in 2023.”

Climate projects around the world

With over 15,000 trees in the BaseKit forest, we’ve been able to support 19 projects around the world. These include the first ever wind power project in Honduras, generating clean electricity with hydropower in India and using waste biomass to produce electricity in Chile.

To find out more about the climate projects we’re supporting and the impact we’re making as a business, head to the BaseKit profile on the Ecologi website.

A huge thank you to the BaseKit team and everybody else who has donated trees to this project and helped us achieve our goal. We’ll be sharing details of our environmental initiatives for 2023 soon.
