Meet Roshni, our new UI/UX Designer

From psychology and cognitive neuroscience to designing intuitive digital experiences, Roshni brings a unique perspective to the BaseKit product team.
Since joining BaseKit as a UI/UX Designer, she’s been putting her creativity and analytical skills to work, helping shape new features and improve the experience for our users. With a passion for problem-solving, a love of learning and a keen interest in how people think and interact with technology, Roshni is already making her mark on the team.
We caught up with Roshni to find out more about her career journey, what attracted her to BaseKit and what she enjoys most about her role so far.
Welcome to BaseKit, Roshni! Can you tell us a little about your background and experience?
Thank you! My career has been a bit of a whirlwind. I have a BSc in Psychology and a MSc in Cognitive Neuroscience. I was previously an Assistant Psychologist specialising in low-intensity interventions for trauma care.
During my Masters, I developed an interest in user research and programming which resulted in my eventual transition from Psychology to UX. I have always been creative yet analytical and UX/UI connected that bridge with (Cognitive) Psychology.
I had been freelancing as a UI/UX designer for almost a year, during which I designed websites and small features of start-up apps before I landed my role at BaseKit as a UI/UX Designer.
What attracted you most to joining the BaseKit team?
Initially, BaseKit’s values and BCorp status really attracted me due to my work with charities as a freelancer and as a former Healthcare employee. I want to always be able to provide back to the community with my work, and I felt like BaseKit’s values, especially “A force for good”, aligned well with my own.
Following this, during my interviews, I got along quite well with Alex, my current manager, and Rhys, my colleague. They were both very friendly and made the process less daunting, thus making me look forward to working with them and at BaseKit. The positive GlassDoor reviews were a bonus as well.
What does your new role involve, and what kinds of projects will you be working on?
My new role involves me identifying gaps within the product and market, then ideating and designing effective solutions for this. I am currently on my second project: AI Image Generator. This is a part of the overarching feature of the 2026 Roadmap: Design Studio. I will be further working on completing BaseKit’s 2026 Product Roadmap whilst also integrating AI within our product. I have also been assisting the marketing team by designing marketing assets and creating nurture videos for our partners.
How have you found settling into the team and working remotely at BaseKit?
The team has been very welcoming and helpful since day 1 so I have been settling in quite well! This is my first remote role so it took a while to adapt. A concern was the potential isolation but morning talks and meetings with the larger BaseKit and Product-Development team negates that. I enjoy the flexibility of working remotely as well since there’s less time spent on commuting, thus allowing more efficiency whilst working as well as a good work-life balance.
How would you describe the product team and its culture so far?
The Product team is lovely, and I’d say our culture is quite autonomic yet collaborative. We are a small team of 3 so whilst we work independently, we also rely on each other for feedback and support when required. My opinion is sought out and valued despite both my colleagues having more industrial experience than me. I am learning a lot from them and they appreciate the fresh perspective I provide.
What are you most looking forward to learning, building or achieving in your role?
I am most looking forward to building and improving my skills as a UI/UX designer. I believe this is already occurring as I am more confident in my design decisions. I also aim to expand my knowledge about the product and successfully recommend effective solutions outside of my projects to the wider team.
Since joining, what’s been your favourite thing about working at BaseKit?
My favourite thing about working at BaseKit has been the variance and challenges in the projects I have worked on so far. As mentioned earlier, I am currently designing our AI Image generator and my previous project involved integrating a third-party tool within our product. Both are quite varying despite being under the same overarching application, and very different from my previous freelancing projects, thus challenging yet exciting to tackle and learn from.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I enjoy gaming and doing something creative, e.g. painting or crocheting. I quite like travelling and experiencing new cultures (and food) as well. I also enjoy running and have completed two 5k races since starting my role!
