BaseKit is proud to announce we have partnered with Sri Lanka’s leading digital service and broadband provider Sri Lanka Telecom, to help serve the adoption of business digital transformation and boost the small business economy across Sri Lanka.
163 years in the making, Sri Lanka Telecom, otherwise known as SLT-MOBITEL, is the National Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Solutions Provider in Sri Lanka. As one of the country’s largest companies, its growing customer base is testament to their strong focus on national vision, customer centricity, and connection.
In just five weeks, Sri Lanka Telecom launched their small business transformation product CubKit which includes our white label digital products, BaseKit Site, BaseKit Store and BaseKit Bookings into the Sri Lankan small business marketplace.
Here, we talk to Madhuka Bandara, Engineer at Sri Lanka Telecom, to uncover what inspired the company to offer BaseKit digital software to their customers and their mission for the future success of small businesses in their country.
Finding the right partnership for digital transformation
“The business landscape is witnessing a widespread adoption of digital transformation, particularly among micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises in Sri Lanka.” says Madhuka
“These businesses are proactively exploring avenues to incorporate this transformative shift, aiming to capitalise on new revenue streams. Essential to this journey is the utilisation of tools like “do it yourself” (DIY), which holds a crucial role in not only facilitating their online digital presence but also empowering these enterprises to undergo a smooth and effective digital transformation.”
To take on this important market shift, for Sri Lanka Telecom, proven customer success and advocacy was key in the decision-making process when considering the most valuable partnership to facilitate the digital transformation of small businesses.
Madhuka said, “Whenever we consider forming partnerships with external stakeholders, our focus lies in assessing their track record of customer success stories. This principle is equally applicable when evaluating potential software partners. It is imperative for us to collaborate with entities that have a proven history of ensuring customer success in their engagements.”
As an advocate of open ecosystems and co-opetition to better drive global tech democracy for small businesses, BaseKit is excited to be recognised by Sri Lanka Telecom to align with Open Digital Architecture (ODA) standards.
“We identified globally renowned telecommunications companies that have established successful partnerships with BaseKit. Furthermore, we are planning to introduce BaseKit as a catalyst project to the TM Forum – a global industry association for service providers and their suppliers in the telecommunications industry – to align with Open Digital Architecture (ODA) standards.”
The road from telco to techco
“Embarking on the Telco to Techco journey involves prioritising digital services to become top-of-mind for our customers. This strategic shift aims not only to provide essential services but also to offer substantial value that resonates with the evolving needs of our customer base.” says Madhuka
BaseKit prides itself on providing highly valuable, super simple digital tools for the solopreneurs and trail blazing sole traders who need software that gives them the confidence to start a business and thrive online.
“Our hosting solutions now include a robust and easy-to-use website builder for our customers. This is the ideal blend of functionality and convenience. Our customers can now transform their businesses digitally with ease.” says Madhuka.
“We are in the process of starting a campaign with STEMUP to launch an island wide challenge focused on digitally transforming micro and SME businesses. Simultaneously, this initiative aims to promote the adoption of the BaseKit (CubKit) product. Additionally, we plan to engage freelancers by encouraging them to leverage the BaseKit (CubKit) web builder for their benefit.”
“Our ultimate goal is to foster a strong and lasting bond between our customers. This journey signifies our commitment to staying ahead in the tech landscape while prioritising customer satisfaction and building enduring connections.”
In line with our own mission for tech democracy for small businesses around the world, BaseKit is very excited to play our part in the transformation of Sri Lanka Telecom from telco to techco, as they digitise their country’s entrepreneurial spirit with CubKit.
