Q&A with Emma Conisbee, Digital Marketing Executive
When we caught up with new BaseKiteer, Paul Seward-Prior we mentioned we were onboarding a few new starters during the Covid-19 pandemic. Please meet Emma, the newest addition to the BaseKit team. And our second team member to be onboarded completely remotely. As with any new team member, we caught up with Emma to find out more about her new role, her socially distanced onboarding, and her love for beaches!
Welcome to BaseKit! Could you tell us a little bit about your previous experience?
I’ve been a marketer for around 7 years, gaining experience within the Health and Fitness, Manufacturing of Event tents and Temporary structures, and more recently the Dentistry industry. My roles have been varied which I love as each day is never the same and brings its own challenges to resolve.
What most attracted you to join the BaseKit team?
Two things that attracted me to join BaseKit was the role and the team. I was excited to have more of a creative focus on optimising the digital marketing strategy, whilst being part of a really fun team, who are driven to all be the best they can be.
What does your new role involve?
As a Creative Digital Marketing Executive, I’m responsible for continually optimising our online and offline buyers journey – with the aim to produce a better experience for all website visitors.
Onboarding during a global pandemic has been a new experience for all of us – how have you found it?
It was, of course, a little odd at the start. It was for most due to COVID-19, but BaseKit made it so easy and it’s been the best onboarding experience I’ve ever received.
Having not worked remotely in previous roles, I quickly got used to meeting everyone virtually over video meetings, weekly company updates and Happy Hour calls. It’s been great to get to know everyone. I dodged the first day nerves (good ones, of course 😉) of walking into the office to meet lots of new faces. But now, I’m really looking forward to getting into the office now to see the team and enjoy some office banter.
How are you finding remote working with the BK team?
It’s going really well! BaseKit has been great at understanding the challenges we might face on a day-to-day basis working remotely, (particularly when we initially went into lockdown and nursery was closed for my 2 ½ year old). We have regular check-ins on how things are going, and always discuss ways to help make life a little easier.
BaseKit provided us with a monthly allowance to spend on what we need at home – I use mine to top up my coffee supplies 😉. The allowance is a lovely gesture and I have enjoyed free movie voucher codes too! Using Slack and Google Hangouts has really helped to get to know the team, and in our recent cats vs dogs debate, I even got to know their furry family too – I’ve never seen such excitement!
What are your main goals for working at BaseKit?
Work-wise, is ultimately to increase the brand awareness of BaseKit, generate leads and increase value for existing partners. Personally, to develop my knowledge and to learn new skills which will help me be more effective in delivering better results.
Since joining the team, what’s been your favourite thing about BaseKit?
The team without a doubt! Everyone is so friendly and it’s great to be around (even if it is remotely at the moment). The BaseKit team comprises of inspiring and driven people who want to succeed.
Tell us something about you: what do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I have a 2 ½-year-old daughter and being sporty parents you’ll tend to find us playing tennis, running around the park or even at the athletics track. To unwind, I love to go on holiday to discover different beaches. We find cruising especially great for this! As a family, we love to get together – any excuse to have a party! I also enjoy spending time with friends and especially love spa days!
