Somehow, 2018 is over, and what a year it’s been! We thought we’d take a look back at some of the exciting things that have happened at BaseKit HQ (and beyond) over the past 12 months. From new products to awards and much more, it’s certainly been a year to remember – and now we can’t wait to see what 2019 brings.

BaseKit 10

Back in April, we celebrated the release of BaseKit 10: our most mobile, complete product yet. With a huge library of beautifully designed sections, pre-populated content and much more, BaseKit 10 offers small business customers a simple path to online success. Web presence has never been so simple! Read more about it here.

BaseKit turns 10!

In August, BaseKit celebrated a huge milestone: our 10th birthday. We decided one celebration wouldn’t be enough, so we spent a whole week celebrating – and what a week it was! From World Record attempts and ten-pin bowling to drinks overlooking the iconic Clifton Suspension Bridge, it was a fantastic week. Bring on the next milestone! If you want to find out more about the journey that led us to this point, why not take a look at our round-up of the past decade, or the lessons it’s taught us?

Simon for PM

(Just kidding – but doesn’t the door suit him?)

Also in August, we had another 10-themed event: CEO Simon Best’s trip to 10 Downing Street. Thanks to the wonderful people at Enterprise Nation, Simon was one of several business owners invited to Number 10 to meet with policy advisors and talk about the importance of getting more small businesses online. Check out the blog over on Enterprise Nation to find out more about what was discussed.

Partner visits and events

We love working with our wonderful partners, so we especially love meeting them in person. In 2018, we were lucky enough to have the chance to visit several of them, either on their home turf or at events like MWC and CloudFest. It’s always great to discuss our plans and see how BaseKit is helping their small business customers – and seeing wonderful places like Florence, Chicago, Paris, Denmark and more has been a lovely bonus! Here are just a couple of the incredible teams we’ve met with this year:

A new look for

In keeping with all the new, exciting things that happened last year, in the summer we decided to completely revamp our website and freshen up our brand. Websites are what we do, after all. With new pages and more information on us and our product, we love the result – we hope you do too!

Not content with all the new things already mentioned, we also decided to change up the way we work internally. This was thanks to Joe, our Director of Operations, who spearheaded the implementation of OKRs. This has been both a success and a learning curve (as all the best things are) – read more about it here.

Last but most certainly not least, the end of the year brought BaseKit success in the form of not one, but two award wins. We were delighted to find out we had won the SaaS Award for Best SaaS Product for SMBs (non-US), so to then find out we had also been awarded the title of Technology Provider of the Year at The British Small Business Awards was just amazing. We were up against some very fierce competition, so we were incredibly honoured just to be nominated – and absolutely ecstatic to be named winners!
